A new way to post, and a faster way to search
Adding a listing is now a short guided form that can fill itself in from your own website. Search moved to ⌘K and looks through the whole board as you type.
Posting to atoseho used to be one long form. It asked for everything at once, which meant the first thing a new listing saw was a wall, and the most common way to fail was to give up halfway down it. It is now five short steps, and each asks for a single kind of thing: what you are called, what you look like, who you are, how you want to be listed, and a last read before it goes live.
It can read your website
If you already have a site, most of that form is a waste of your time, because the answers are on your own home page. So the first step offers to fetch it. Paste your address and the name, the description and the link come back filled in, along with your logo where the page declares one.
Everything it fills stays editable, and the fields it touched are marked, so you can see what came from the machine rather than from you. If your site cannot be read, the form carries on exactly as it would have, with the address you typed already in place. It never tells you *why* a site was refused, only that it was, which is deliberate.
It will never read your phone number
WhatsApp is how nearly everyone on this board is actually reached, and a number scraped off a page is a number nobody checked. It is typed, every time, by the person it belongs to.
What did change is that it is no longer assumed to be Malagasy. There is a country picker beside it now, so a diaspora owner on a French mobile or an operator on a South African line is listed correctly, instead of being quietly stored as a local number that does not dial. The field also stops accepting digits once you have typed as many as the country you picked actually uses.
A new question: how far along you are
Optional, and one of three answers: just launched, growing, or established. It exists because it is the one thing a visitor cannot tell from a listing and often wants to know, and because it makes the board browsable in a way categories do not. Somebody looking for the people who have only just started can now ask for exactly that.
- Just launched: open, but only just. The one people come looking for.
- Growing: trading, with customers, still building.
- Established: settled, and years of it.
Nothing is lost if you leave
The form keeps what you have written on your own device and gives it back when you return. That matters more here than it might elsewhere: this board is read mostly on mobile data, and a dropped connection used to cost somebody five steps of work and a photo upload. Images that fail to send can now be retried without finding the file again.
Search moved to ⌘K
Press ⌘K anywhere on the site, or click the field in the header, and type. It looks through every listing on the board rather than the page you happen to be on, matches names and descriptions, and copes with the accents Malagasy and French names are full of. It is the fastest way to find out whether something is already listed before you add it.
